BCLC Specialist Descriptions, Requirements and Definitions

For life coaches who are seeking recognition as a practice specialist, the BCLC has several designations to choose from. Only individuals who are already credentialed with the BCLC are eligible to apply for a specialist designation. Individuals may also apply as a specialist at the same time they apply for the appropriate level of core life coaching credentials

The following specialty designations are currently available. The specialty designations are as follows:

Crisis Pregnancy Life Coach Specialist

Requirements for the Certified Crisis Pregnancy Life Coach Specialist are as follows:

James C. Dobson Life Coach Specialist

Everyone who applies for the James C. Dobson Life Coach Specialist designation must hold one of the four BCLC credential levels. Or, the coursework that is required for the James C. Dobson Life Coaching specialist can also be used towards a Life Coaching credential.

Child Development and Parenting – CDP (choose one of the following):

  • Board Certified CDP Life Coach
  • Board Certified CDP Advanced Life Coach
  • Board Certified CDP Master Life Coach

Marriage and Family – MAF (choose one of the following):

  • Board Certified MAF Life Coach
  • Board Certified MAF Advanced Life Coach
  • Board Certified Master Life Coach

Family Advocacy and Public Policy – FPP (choose one of the following):

  • Board Certified FPP Life Coach
  • Board Certified FPP Advanced Life Coach
  • Board Certified Master Life Coach

Requirements for the Certified James C. Dobson Life Coach Specialist are as follows:

  • 2 Dobson Courses to achieve the Life Coach Specialist Certification
  • 3 Dobson Courses to achieve the Advanced Life Coach Specialist Certification
  • 5 Dobson Courses to achieve the Master Life Coach Specialist Certification
  • A one-time $49.00 fee, made out to AACC, to become a specialist.

The BCLC will not disclose the confidential information given in this application without your express, written consent. Applicants who receive a core credential through the BCLC and elect to participate in the AACC’s comprehensive Christian Care Network, understand that certain contact information (only business related and not personal), along with other pertinent demographic information (gender, age, ethnicity, years of experience, credentials, areas of specialization, etc.), may be listed in resource directories in order to assist those seeking help in making appropriate and/or desired choices for care.
